Depressant additives are specially selected compositions based on surfactants and copolymers in a hydrocarbon solvent.
The principle of the additive is based on the absorption of depressant molecules on the surface of the formed paraffin crystals when the temperature decreases, preventing further crystal growth. As a result, the paraffin crystals do not become larger, gelation decreases when the temperature decreases, the flow temperature and freezing point of the petroleum product decrease.
